This year’s Hall of Fame Inductee is Scott Beasley from Duncan Tire Company, Inc in Dublin, GA. Scott was scheduled to begin work at Duncan Tire Co. in August of 1970, but was forced to begin four months earlier due to Mr. Duncan’s failing health. When Scott began, Duncan Tire Co. had two small bays, three tire techs and a secretary. Under Scott’s leadership, the business has steadily grown. Today, Duncan Tire Co. has three locations and twenty-three employees. He began his first expansion in 1984 and purchased the business that same year. In 1998 he decided to open a commercial store at the original location. In 2001 Scott decided to expand his retail business and opened a second retail store in Dublin. Scott’s last expansion occurred in 2005 when he built a 5,000 sq. foot warehouse on the property of the original store.
Scott first attended a GTDRA function at Lake Lanier Islands in 1980, after being recruited by Dickey Traylor of Moultrie Tire Co. Scott has missed very few events since that day. He has served in all aspects of the Association including President, Director, and Trustee. Scott has served on the Foundation Board from 1996-2012. The foundation has been one of the most rewarding jobs he has had. Scott enjoys helping raise money for the Foundation, and giving the scholarships to the very deserving students.
During the years Scott has also been very active in the community. He has served as Chamber of Commerce President, board member on the Dublin-Laurens Development Authority and endless other boards and committees. He was selected as Humanitarian of the year in 2009, by Tire Business Magazine.
Scott continues to work 5 days a week and has for over 42 years. Upon receiving the news that he was entering the Hall of Fame all he could say was “There are a lot of people who deserve this before me.” That may be true, but Scott, you definitely deserve this recognition! Congratulations!
